was listening to parallel lines by blondie on my ipod yesterday and remembered one of my favorite songs of theirs- 11:59. i remember how the lyric 'today can last another million years' grabbed a hold of my imagination while i was in college, and made me think of possibilities for my life-

it was so cold today. the past few day i had been in a funk but i decided not to let my setback get me down. it's too easy to get bogged down in depressing thoughts, but it's well worth the effor to try to be positive and keep going. struggling against my fatigue tonight, i decided to post this blog entry and to read the excellent new book i just ordered for my e reader- Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken: Transform Your Life with the Power of Authenticity by Mike Robbins because i need to learn to listen more to myself, to my own heart and my dreams and desires, and less to my idea of what everyone wants me to be. i need to start living my life for myself, and stop worrying about what other people will think if i change, or how they will react.
i tend to get down when i compare myself to other people around my age and see how successful they are in their careers. i start to feel that i'll never measure up. but it's important to remember that i am where i am in this life journey for a reason, and no one else is here to be me or do what i'm here to do and vice versa. i read this article today which really helped me to realize this too, it's so good!

there is only one life to live, and there's no reason to stay stuck someplace where you don't want to be. doing work that you don't believe in or absolutely love. so maybe it will take more searching, but i will do what it takes to find my true calling, my path and the road i am supposed to take. and be gentle with myself in the process. i think cultivating patience is the hardest thing. but i have to get there. i have to assign some meaning to my life on this earth.
