miles from nowhere, and some random tidbits

i just started reading this novel called 'miles from nowhere' by Nami Mun. it's a about a 13 year old girl who runs away from home to live in the streets of new york after her father leaves her family and her mom loses her sanity. it's supposed to be largely autobiographical due to the author being a teen runaway herself. she has an amazing way with words, very poetic and lyrical. and i love the imagery she creates. i've only read a couple of pages and it's already impressive. she writes about her mother setting her father's belongings on fire and then the young girl 'joon' running into the house, locking all the doors and turning off all the lights because she says 'we had revealed too much of ourselves.' that's a small sample of the writer's voice. glad i found out about this book when i read about it in a magazine and read all the great reviews.

i'm pretty much all alone at work today. and it feels so good to know i'll have next week off! i already scheduled a massage for new year's eve and i can't wait for that. just have to get through the rest of today and i am free.
anyone reading who loves fashion/glamour and intrigue should watch this movie called 'priceless' starring audrey tatou. i keep trying to find it on ebay since netflix doesnt seem to sell movies anymore. that's a shame because i wanted to buy some other movies on DVD that i still have on tape.

this is random, but isn't it annoying when you email people and they never write back? and you have to sit there and wonder if they ever saw your email or not? i hate that. i always answer people's emails. my family does this a lot. or we'll have a family get together or a party and someone will take digital pictures of me and then never email them to me. like what the fuck? i kind of want to see the pictures too. and i always send out my pics right away. that was actually my main reason for getting my own digital camera, because whenever anyone else took pictures, i never saw them again except for that split second afterwards when they turn the camera around to let you see how you look.
