hazy shade of winter

spent much of this weekend suffering from a migraine headache, so not fun. but i also went to a party for my aunt's birthday and received a cute late Christmas gift from my cousin's daughter, a beautiful, kind of transparent yellow beaded bracelet that she made herself. and i got a small box of chocolate. tonight after i recovered from my headache, i searched for interesting entries in the poet's market for 2011 and sent out some of my poems. i guess it helps that i've written poems on a wide variety of subjects which makes it easier to target specific markets.

some want anything and everything, while others are focused on darker poetry with horror themes, or religious poetry, nature poetry, etc. i'm tracking all my entries on a spreadsheet provided in the book, that's a great idea because it's hard to keep track of who does and doesn't accept previously published works and simultaneous submissions. and where i sent which poems. i definitely need to start reading more contemporary poetry, to see what is out there, as well as reacquaint myself with the classics
