so coraline, what a strange, confusing, eerie movie. i was expecting it to be what it was, in that it was a great, entertaining stop motion 3D animated movie to watch with stunning visuals, and fun and different in that sense. the story had a clear moral, but somehow i expected there to be a bit more meat to the story. i have to say though that i agree with a lot of reviewers online who describe this movie as being too creepy and scary for children, as i myself was frightened by some scenes. there was a scene involving dog bats hanging from a ceiling with glowing red eyes, glowing ghostly child figures with button eyes hiding beneath a bed sheet and then floating around a room, a father puppet pulling his face downward until it becomes unnaturally elongated, and a moment where coraline falls into a giant web that comes as a complete surprise and is shot in a swift motion that totally caught me off guard and made me gasp, not to mention her demonic 'other mother' falling down after her, with her button eyes having been ripped out by a cat. yeah, it was creepy.
the music in the beginning and the opening sequence also gave me the chills, in which a doll is hollowed out and resown to look like coraline. this easily could have become a horror movie with some small adjustments. i felt bad for the children in the theater who quietly whispered to their mothers 'I don't want to watch this' and i hope that my coworker didn't end up taking her 4 year old daughter to this. she told me she might after i told her i had planned to see it this weekend. i also read that on the official site of coraline, the movie (which thankfully my computer is too slow to load fully), there is a feature where you can upload your photo and have buttons sown into your eyes! what the hell?
in the past few days i have been told that i look like coraline, and christina ricci. to whom i bear no resemblance at all. weird. i guess people see what they want to see. i also got my hair straightened with the brazilian kerotine hair treatment thing, which i'm so happy and relieved about. though i am somewhat unrecognizable to myself now. i guess it will take some getting used to, but in a good way!
well, back to fashion week coverage..

omg... i didn't know this was a coraline spoiler...
button eyes ripped out!!!
but thank you for the nice review of coraline.
minxygrl! that movie was rather creepy. I remember hearing that kid keep pleading with her dad, "I dont want to watch this!" The movie was pretty kid-friendly up until the middle when she couldnt get out of the alternate world and realized she stepped in it.
your hair looks hott!
