went to the scope art show yesterday with my bf, and enjoyed the many contemporary art works and sculpture on display there from galleries all around the world. looking at art is kind of voyeuristic, like peeking inside the workings of someone's mind, soul and heart. this type of show is one of the great, amazing things about living close to new york city. you can be immersed in the mecca of global culture and all the inspiration and insight that can bring.
one of my favorites from the day was the photograph below, there wasn't much photography to be seen but this one by David Drebin called 'the girl in the orange dress' really captured me. i took home a postcard featuring the pic and hung it on my wall so i can see it while i sit at my desk at home.
i don't know what it is about that picture, but you can draw your conclusions. maybe it's about feeling small? wanting adventure? feeling like an outsider? going to and exploring places unknown? i think it's that and so much more. hard to describe.
well it's raining all day today and i got up just a little while ago, time to go do some exciting things like wash dishes and clean the bathroom, at least yesterday i got to make the most of the day and go someplace new and see inspiring things. today is a quiet day, perfect for meditation, maybe exercise, reading and them maybe sending my poetry out to more magazine and journals listed in the poet's market. i had wanted to go out for a long walk today but now i don't know with the rain. might just have to work out inside.
